Covid Update from the St. Luke Executive Committee: According to the CDC, Lycoming County had crossed the threshold into “substantial transmission”. The CDC now recommends universal indoor masking in Lycoming County regardless of vaccination status, and as the St. Luke executive committee, we continue to recommend following the CDC guidelines. We continue to gather for in person worship and encourage all who are able, to join us on Sunday mornings. Finally, we are committed to the needs of all members of our congregation, therefore virtual worship will continue until further notice.

HOSPITAL Pleasecontact Sarah Young at the church office (570-323-7309) if you or a family member are in the hospital or are ill. Pastor Jeff is available for visits or phone calls, and at your request, Sarah will then contact our prayer chain leaders.
SCHOOL KITS NEEDED Lutheran World Relief distributes backpacks containing school supplies to children and adults throughout the world. Learning leads to a better life for them, and that can be accomplished with our help. Backpacks are being made by volunteers at St. Luke, and will be filled with the following: 70- Sheet notebook of ruled paper; 8×10 ½, 30 centimeter ruler or a ruler with centimeters on the other; pencil sharpeners; blunt scissors (safety scissors with embedded steel blades); unsharpened pencils with erasers; black or blue pens (no gel ink); box of 16 or 24 crayons; 2 ½” eraser.
We are asking you to purchase items on the list and return them to the church by Sept. 21st. (West Hall) School supplies are on sale right now, so please take advantage! If you can’t shop, you can donate money for shopping. Make the checks out to St. Luke with “School kits shipping” on the memo line.
JOB OPENING St. Luke is seeking to fill the position of Financial Secretary. This is a part-time position whose hours may be arranged as desired. FROM THE DIRECTOR OF MUSIC (Mark Pall) I will be hosting a covered dish dinner on Thursday, September 16th at 6:00pm in Bell Hall for all choir, handbell choir and those interested in joining either ensembles! This is a great opportunity to meet me and join in fellowship with one another. You are invited to bring a dish of your choice to share. I will be providing my applewood smoked chicken thighs. Beverages will be provided. Members of both ensembles should make it a point to be present. We will be discussing the future of both ensembles after our meal. Ideas and concerns will be shared amongst the group as well.

PRE- SCHOOL MUM SALE The sale has begun and will continue through September 21st. Certificates will be available for sale at the church office or from a Board member for $5.00 each and can be redeemed for one 9 inch mum (choice of color based on availability) at Simmers Nursery, 101 Park Rd., Montoursville, from Sept. 11th – Oct. 17th. PROJECT LINUS St. Luke will be hosting a Project Linus “Make a Blanket Day” on Saturday, September 25th, 9:00am-3:00pm. Snacks and lunch will be provided. We will be accepting donations of completed new handmade blankets in addition to making quilts, fleece, and granny square blankets. At a Make a Blanket Day, we will be assembling and finishing quilts, hand tying fleece blankets and sewing together granny squares. Volunteers are needed to help with registration and donation collections, if you have any questions or can volunteer to help, please call Dawn Nau at 503-686-4968. We will be following any CDC recommendations due to COVID at this event.
CML WHOOPIE PIE STAND Camp Mount Luther is once again participating in a local festival to help raise funds for their campership fund. The camp will staff a booth at the Selinsgrove Market Street Festival on Saturday, September 25, 2021. Their booth will feature the sale of homemade whoopie pies. Volunteers are needed to make these sweet treats, as well as to staff the booth on the day of the festival.
