Please note that there will be no additional announcement regarding inclement weather. In the event of rain, the 10:30 service will still be held indoors; even with social distancing, we can accommodate as many as sixty people in the Nave.

SHEPHERD OF THE STREETS Family sized hygiene items are always a blessing and the Shepherd’s shelves are almost bare! A new collection basket is now located in the Bell Hall glass vestibule (across from the office entrance) for your donations, along with the basket in the West Hall. This continues to be a necessary part of our Shepherd of the Streets ministry. The list follows:

FOOD PANTRY Please read carefully as instructions have changed.
The St. Luke Service Ministry invites you to join your fellow members, family and friends during these difficult times to fill “disposable” grocery bags with grocery items for the Food Pantry. The food collection basket is now located in the Bell Hall glass vestibule (across from the office entrance) for your donations. Please do not use our St. Luke canvas bags, due to the COVID19. Thank you. Trish Whelan and her son, Danny will check the basket and deliver the food to the United Churches Food Pantry, as needed. The pantry can always use any kind of: soup, ramen noodles, pasta, macaroni and cheese, granola bars, canned chicken or tuna, tea bags, hot chocolate packet, coffee, pop tarts, saltines, oatmeal packets, sugar, flour, ketchup, mustard, and all canned fruits and vegetables.

FROM THE PRE-SCHOOL Meet the new Preschool teacher:
My name is Melissa Steslow and I am thrilled to be the new teacher at The Pre-school at Saint Luke! I was born and raised in Williamsport. After graduating from Shippensburg University with a degree in Elementary Education I returned home to explore my passion to work with kids. My husband Matt and I have 2 children, the youngest of which has been attending The Pre-school at St. Luke. This allowed me the opportunity to substitute teach and volunteer for the last year! I’m very excited to join the Pre-school team to work and play with a wonderful group of kids!
We want to thank everyone for once again making our fall mum sale a success! If you look around the church, you will see some of those mums decorating our building for fall. REMINDER- if you bought mums, they can be redeemed now – Oct. 10th for a 9 inch mum (choice of color based on availability) at Simmers Nursery, 101 Park Rd., Montoursville. WEIS: The Pre-School at St. Luke is partnering up with Weis Market in the Weis 4 School program. This program can earn money for the school. Please pick up a form outside the church office door in the glass foyer.
Pastors Jeff LeCrone and Ted Cockley will be leading a book study sponsored by the Synod Advocacy Team.
The book “I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness” is a memoir by Austin Channing Brown and focuses on the author’s personal, educational, and vocational experiences as a Black female. The book cover provides this description: “Growing up in majority-white schools, organizations, and churches, Austin writes, ‘I had to learn what it means to love Blackness,’ a journey that led to a lifetime spent navigating America’s racial divide as a writer, a speaker, and an expert helping organizations practice genuine inclusion.”
The study will conducted through Zoom three Sundays in October (11, 18, & 25). The time is 3-4 p.m. The Zoom link will be published on this page at a time closer to the event and can also be emailed by request.
If the advertised time does not work for you, there are two other dates and times available (facilitated by different leaders). Those times are Sundays (October 11, 18, & 25) at 2 p.m. and Wednesdays, (October 14, 21, and 28) at 7p.m.
