ATTENTION ONLINE WORSHIPPERS In order to provide communion to those who are continuing to worship online, Pastor Jeff will be available following the in-person worship service (approximately 10:45-noon). Please park in the front lot and Pastor Jeff will meet you either in the courtyard or come to your car to offer communion. LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF SCHOOL KITS contain essential supplies that help children, and in some cases, adults, continue learning in the face of serious obstacles. Learning leads to a better life for them, their families and their communities. With our help that goal can be reached. The collection basket is located in the in the Bell Hall glass vestibule (across from the office entrance) for your donations. Look for office supply sales where you can find the best prices for the needed items:

• 70 sheet notebooks of ruled paper, 8”x 10 ½” – Black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel ink)
• 30 centimeter ruler or a ruler with centimeters on one side and inches on the other.
• Pencil sharpeners – Unsharpened pencils with erasers
• Blunt scissors (safety scissors with embedded steel blades)

FOOD PANTRY Please read carefully as instructions have changed.

The St. Luke Service Ministry invites you to join your fellow members, family and friends during these difficult times to fill “disposable” grocery bags with grocery items for the Food Pantry. The food collection basket is now located in the Bell Hall glass vestibule (across from the office entrance) for your donations. Please do not use our St. Luke canvas bags, due to the COVID19. Thank you. Trish Whelan and her son, Danny will check the basket and deliver the food to the United Churches Food Pantry, as needed. The pantry can always use any kind of: soup, ramen noodles, pasta, macaroni and cheese, granola bars, canned chicken or tuna, tea bags, hot chocolate packet, coffee, pop tarts, saltines, oatmeal packets, sugar, flour, ketchup, mustard, and all canned fruits and vegetables.

The family of Richard Lakey would like to share an update regarding the celebration of his life originally planned for August 2020.

We are very sad to have to let you know that the celebration we had originally hoped to plan for August to celebrate Dick and the amazing musical gifts he offered to all of us must be postponed.

Unfortunately, we do not feel it is currently safe for the members of our family who will need to travel to participate in the service to do so. We also feel it is not possible to have the type of celebration we would like to have in his honor while also keeping everyone in attendance safe. We hope now to plan an event in August 2021 around his birthday (Aug 11). We’ll let you know more soon.

In addition, we also wanted to let you know how much we appreciate your kind words, and the many wonderful stories you’ve shared about Dick since his passing. It’s very special to hear from so many of you, especially since we can’t get together in person. Until we can gather safely, we hope you’ll join us in holding him in your heart and delighting in the music and humor he added to life.

Our Shepherd of the Streets will retire soon.
[cid:image002.png@01D66BF3.C6B84B80]It has been twenty years that we have enjoyed the leadership and caring service provided by our Shepherd of the Street, J. Morris Smith, Th.D.

Morris and his wife Barby are getting ready to move to Kansas City, Missouri where they will be closer to their daughter Marci and her family to enjoy those retirement years we all dream about! We will miss them not only within our United Churches ministry but in the life of the community!

Celebrations are difficult at this time, so we are collecting cards and letters to put together for them, as well as providing them with a gift, which you are welcome to contribute to. Please mark all – Smith Retirement. (Lets try to keep this a bit of a secret from Morris!) Please send these to United Churches, 202 East Third Street, Williamsport PA 17701
