                   What Lutherans Believe
Through his ministry, death and resurrection, Christ has saved us from "sin, death, and the power of the devil." God's gift of faith in Christ's saving power makes that saving power effective for us. In joy and freedom, we respond to God's grace with praise and thankful service.

EASTER IN AUGUST All are still welcome to sign- up for the final summer observance of the 500thanniversary of the Reformation. To end the triad of Rick Steves’ videos describing European culture and sites of the Reformation, we show Rick Steves’ European Easter tomorrow, August 21st. This will be preceded by a “rustic picnic” on the courtyard, to which you are invited to bring a home-style loaf of bread, sausage, cheese, or fruit. We begin at 6:30 PM, and the rain date for the event is the following evening, August 22nd. A sign-up sheet for picnic items is located in the west hall.

LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF SCHOOL KITS Again this year, we will start collecting items for school kits in August. School kits may be the only supplies a child has when returning to school after the disruption of war. Look for the display table in the West Hall with a school bag (made by some of our quilters) and the supplies needed. You can donate $5 for a school bag and/or bring in supplies: 70 sheet spiral notebooks 8” x 10”, 30-centimeter ruler, pencil sharpener, 2 ½ “ eraser, blunt scissors, No. 2 pencils with erasers, black or blue ballpoint pens. (Crayons already purchased) Check out those back to school” sales. Let’s open our hearts to today’s millions of refugees by offering the gift of education!

THE SEW FINE QUILTERS will not be meeting in September!! But if anyone would like “homework” contact Cindy Belles at 570-998-2815. The 1st meeting will be Monday, October 2nd from 9:00AM-3:00PM in Bell Hall. We are planning on 2 work days for the month of October so mark your calendars for Monday, Oct. 2nd and Monday, Oct. 16th.
